PRIVACY POLICY

ZebraFarm Ltd (company number 12849046), which we call "ZebraFarm", "we", "us" or "our", designs and delivers startup programmes. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, zebrafarm.co, and when you get in touch or buy our Pitch Guide, and what we do with it.
We are the data controller for this information, which means we are responsible for deciding how it is used. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, please email us at lisa@zebrafarm.co.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (the ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
WHAT THIS POLICY COVERS
This policy is for people who:
visit our website,
contact us through our form or by email, or
buy our Pitch Guide.
It does not cover the founders or participants whose information we handle when we design or deliver a programme for a client. In those cases our client is usually responsible for that information, and it is covered by a separate agreement.
THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information you give us. When you fill in our contact form or email us, we collect the information you choose to share. Our form asks for your name, your organisation, your role, your email address and your message. If you email us directly, we will have your email address and whatever you include.
When you buy the Pitch Guide. Our Pitch Guide is sold through Lemon Squeezy, who act as the "merchant of record". This means Lemon Squeezy handle the checkout and your payment, including your card details, so we never see or store your full payment information. We receive your name, email address and basic order details so we can give you access to the guide and keep a record of the sale.
Information we collect automatically. When you visit the site, some information is collected automatically, such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view and how you reached the site. We use this to keep the site running and to understand how it is used. We collect this through Framer (our website platform) and Google Analytics. See "Cookies and analytics" below.
We do not collect sensitive information, such as details about your health, race or religious beliefs, and we do not use your information to make automated decisions about you.
HOW AND WHY WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We only use your information when we have a proper reason to do so. Under UK data protection law these reasons are called "lawful bases", and ours are:
To reply to your enquiry and talk to you about your programme. Our basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
To provide the Pitch Guide and manage your purchase. Our basis is performing our contract with you.
To keep proper records and meet our legal duties, for example keeping financial records. Our basis is complying with our legal obligations.
To understand and improve how the website is used. Our basis is your consent, given through our cookie controls, where required.
To keep our site and business secure and to deal with any legal claims. Our basis is our legitimate interest in protecting ZebraFarm.
We do not send marketing emails or newsletters, and we do not sell your information.
COOKIES AND ANALYTICS
Our website uses a small number of cookies. Some are essential to make the site work and are set by Framer, our website platform. We also use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site, for example which pages are most helpful. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and collects information such as your IP address and the pages you visit.
You can control cookies at any time through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH
We do not sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing. We do use a small number of trusted suppliers who process information on our behalf so we can run the website and our services:
Framer, which builds and hosts our website.
Formspark, which delivers the messages you send through our contact form.
Google, for website analytics (Google Analytics) and for our email (Google Workspace).
Lemon Squeezy, which handles Pitch Guide sales and payments as merchant of record.
Notion, which we use to give Pitch Guide buyers access to the guide.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights, or if our business is ever sold or reorganised, in which case your information may pass to the new owner.
SENDING INFORMATION OUTSIDE THE UK
Some of our suppliers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. When your information is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK's adequacy rules or standard data protection contract terms, like the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or addendum.
HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION
We keep your information only for as long as we need it. In practice:
We keep enquiries and related emails for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you come back to us.
We keep records relating to purchases and payments for at least six years, because tax law requires it.
When we no longer need your information, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
HOW WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, and we use reputable suppliers who do the same. No website or online service can be completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to limit who can access it.
YOUR RIGHTS
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
ask for a copy of the information we hold about you,
ask us to correct anything that is wrong,
ask us to delete your information,
ask us to restrict or object to how we use it,
ask us to transfer it to another provider, where that applies, and
withdraw your consent at any time, where we relied on consent.
To use any of these rights, just email us at lisa@zebrafarm.co. We will respond within one month. Using your rights is free, and we will not treat you any differently for asking.
